The Milky Way

ISO 2500 F/4 30 Sec

The past week I got a chance to finally go out and shoot the Milky Way. Joshua Tree National Park is always a great place to view the Milky Way because it’s so dark and far from any light pollution. It’s amazing what the camera can see. On another night I went up to Big Bear and got some amazing shots of the stars.

Time lapse in Joshua Tree

Short Time Lapse Rock Arch

Here’s my attempt of testing out my 101 images from Arch Rock in Joshua Tree this past week. I used two programs for this, an action in photoshop to blend the images frame by frame and then used Lightroom 4 to make the movie 24 Fps. I only ended up with 6 seconds of video, Crazy! I’m going to try this again, but I‘ll need my sleeping bag next time!

Testing

This was a test shot at a different angle before I did the star trails. You can see Jupiter & Venus from this angle. I would have loved to have the 2 stars in the startrail, but they were just too bright. Besides as you can see there was also allot of light pollution towards the bottom. I suppose it was great for 1 30 sec exposure 🙂
